Who can be a house minder?

Anyone can be a minder providing you are responsible, can provide references and or a police check. Being a minder is virtually ‘renting’ someone’s home while they are away except you don’t pay rent! There are many reasons to become a minder such as;

  • Alternative to renting. Why pay rent?
  • Wanting to move closer to work or family.
  • Saving for a home.
  • Wanting to try local areas before buying a house.
  • Building or renovating their home and need somewhere to stay.
  • Saving money for weddings or holidays.
  • Wanting to get away from mum and dad.
  • Tired of shared accommodation.
  • Recently divorced and don’t want to commit to anything yet.
  • Needing a holiday.
  • Pensioners wanting to see and travel around Australia. You can live rent free in our homes if you can do any of the following;
  • Live in and care for someone else’s home.
  • Keep it secure.
  • Care for their cats, dogs and other pets.
  • Maintain their gardens.
  • Keep their home clean.
  • Do some odd jobs as required.
  • Redirect / collect mail.
  • Take phone messages.

It is a win / win situation. You get to live rent free. The owner saves on pet boarding costs, gardeners and has peace of mind and security. Minding is different from renting because you are really living in someone elses home.
