Why we're the best

Using other housesitting services

1. Choice of services

There is only one type of service offered - DIY. With these do-it-yourself services, you do all the legwork from lists that are supplied to you.

2. Finding your minder

You search through the (often long) minder lists yourself. You call listed candidates to establish if they are:

  • available for the required dates
  • suitably qualified
  • dependable
3. Peace of mind

You negotiate with each candidate to establish if they:

  • have good references
  • are experienced with pets and gardens
  • will pay a bond
  • will sign a written agreement
  • are prepared to do various duties
4. Timing

This is variable and can sometimes take days or weeks to find suitable candidates.

5. Security

You risk revealing personal and travel date details to unqualified candidates.

6. Your minder becomes ill before you go

If your minder becomes ill or unavailable before you leave, you need to start the whole process over again.

7. Your minder becomes ill after you leave

You may need to curtail your trip and return home.

8. Booking convenience

You cannot use agents.

9. Regular customers

There are no special deals.

10. On-going services

There are no feedback services.

Using Houseminders

1. Choice of services

You have a choice of a complete do-it-for-me (DIFM) service or the do-it-yourself (DIY) program (DIY only available in Sydney and Melbourne). With DIFM you only make 1 phone call to us and we do all the running around.

2. Finding your minder

We present you with a shortlist of 3 or 4 qualified, dependable and available candidates. You choose the candidate that's right for you.

3. Peace of mind

Before you start the final interview DIFM customers can relax in the knowledge that all our minders:

  • have good references
  • are experienced with pets and gardens
  • expect to pay a bond
  • are comfortable in signing a written houseminding agreement(we supply one)
  • have agreed in advance to your requirements
4. Timing

We are able to provide most DIFM owners/ residents with a shortlist of candidates within a few days of receiving their booking.

5. Security

With DIFM customers your privacy is protected because we do not reveal your identity, address or dates of travel to anyone. You would only reveal this to your chosen minder.

6. Your minder becomes ill before you go

DIFM customers - we'll find you another houseminder at no charge.
DIY customers - you can switch to the full service program (on payment of the registration fee) and we'll do our best to find a replacement.

7. Your minder becomes ill after you leave 

DIFM customers - we'll find you another houseminder (for a small fee).
DIY customers - you can switch to the full service program (on payment of the registration fee) and we'll do our best to find a replacement.

8. Booking convenience 

DIFM - You can book directly with us or through your favourite travel agent, vet or pet store.
DIY - You need to book directly with us.

9. Regular customers

We love our regular customers and they get preferred rates too!

For an annual registration fee of just $330, we will find you as many minders as you want in a 12 month period.

10. On-going services  

On your return we contact you to discuss your level of satisfaction with your minder.
