HouseMinders

How the service works

If you're a would-be houseminder, it is important that you are familiar with how our service operates.

Our starting point is with the needs of our homeowners, who contact us to access our register of minders - responsible people who'll care for their homes while they're travelling.

The Homeowners register with the Company and brief us on their requirements.  They detail:

  • the period they will be away
  • the type of person they want
  • their pet and garden care requirements
  • their preferred HouseMinders program

Owners choose from:

  • The Do It For Me (DIFM) program
This is the complete value-added service provided by the Company, where we do all the legwork and present a shortlist of suitable candidates to the owner.
  • The Do It Yourself (DIY) program
In this program, owners request a minder directory for their region and conduct their own search and liaison directly with individual minders.
Please note that minders are automatically registered for both programs.

The Owner Do It For Me (DIFM) Program

  • Step 1 - Registration and briefing
The owners register and then provide us with a brief of their requirements, type of person they want, the number of pets etc.
  • Step 2 - The Matching Process
We contact all minders who match the requirements, ascertain their interest and check their availability. We will shortlist down to 2-3 appropriate minders.
  • Step 3 - Owner interview
The owner usually reads each candidate profile before phoning each one to arrange an interview at the home.
  • Step 4 - Decision
After contacting their referees, the owner offers the assignment to the minders on the shortlist that he/she prefers most.

The Owner Do It Yourself (DIY) Program

  • Step 1 - Registration
The owners register for the program and request the relevant Minder directory for their state.
  • Step 2 - Despatch
We send to the owner the profiles and contact details of houseminders for their state.
  • Step 3 - Owner contacts minders
The owner peruses the listings, contacting those that appear to best suit requirements.
  • Step 4 - Owner interview/selection
The owner conducts an interview of one or more candidates and selects the preferred minder.
  • Step 5 - Decision
After contacting their referees, the owner offers the assignment to the successful candidate.

Important notice!

The Company provides an introduction service.  We do not guarantee the availability, suitability or conduct of any houseminder.  HouseMinders does not select minders for assignments.  These decisions are made by each individual property owner.
