Being selected for a houseminding assignment depends upon
a range of factors, given that selection is the homeowner's decision
it is vital you put your best foot forward. Here
are some hints on how you can present yourself as the perfect

- The Key Categories
- Your Registration Profile
- Developing Interview Skills
- Flexibility

The Key Categories
There are several key categories on your registration form that
are used when identifying suitable candidates. These are:
Area
These are the regions and suburbs you have nominated as being
convenient to you. It is recommended that you be as flexible
as possible, as the more areas you nominate, the more assignments
for which you will be considered
Duration
Some assignments are short, others long. Minders
who are the most flexible as to the length of assignment they
are prepared to accept, will be considered for more assignments.
Availability
Obviously, you need to be available in order to be considered
for selection.
Status
Some owners prefer a couple, others an individual or family.
Pet lover
Owners with pets want to know if you are good with dogs, cats and
occasionally, horses.
Greenthumb
Some owners prefer a person with a love of gardens.
Homebody
Security conscious owners may prefer someone who's around
the place for most of the time, rather than at work. |
Your Registration Profile
Your profile is your chance to present your attributes
as a houseminder in the best light, and is the key to
getting on the shortlist for houseminding assignments. It
is your profile that :
- we use when shortlisting candidates
- owners in the DIY program see when they request
a list of minders for their area
- we send to owners in the full service Do-it-for-me
program when they request the shortlist of the most suitable
candidates
This is your opportunity to sell yourself to the homeowner. Remember,
owners are entrusting their home to your care and will
be drawn to people who meet their needs.
You may describe yourself in any way that suits your personality,
although you need to keep this to 75 words or less. Here
are some examples:
